Embracing the Art of Letting Go š
As August gently fades and September whispers its arrival, I find myself inspired by natureās rhythm. The leaves will soon begin to fall, and thereās a profound lesson in that for all of us.
Nature shows us the beauty of letting go. Trees release their leaves every year, trusting that new growth will come in the Spring. They donāt hold on to what no longer serves them. This simple, natural act reminds me of the importance of letting go in my own life.
For months now, I've been wrestling with burnout and a stubborn creative block. Pushing through has only made things worse. The more I tried to force creativity, the more it slipped away. Itās been exhausting.
Iāve realized that holding on too tightly to expectations and control only feeds my anxiety. So, Iām learning to let go. Iām allowing myself to feel what I need to feelāno more, no less. Just like the trees shedding their leaves to prepare for new growth, I'm shedding my need for control and perfection. I'm letting go of the stress of trying to force creativity and allowing myself to rest. This season, I'm embracing the art of letting go, trusting that this process will make way for new inspiration and energy.
These last couple of weeks Iāve found peace in small, mindful momentsāsavouring the warmth of the sun, enjoying my morning tea in the backyard, taking long baths and honestly; just doing a whole lot of nothing. Bliss. Life is a continuous cycle of holding on and letting go. Each season, each phase has its purpose.
This process of letting go is helping me reconnect with my true self and my passion for art. Iām learning to create from the heart again, without the burden of expectation. I repeat ālet goā to myself daily. When my mind starts to spiral with worry, I pause, take a deep breath, and release.
As we prepare for Autumn, I invite you to join me in this practice of letting go. Letās take inspiration from natureās cycles and trust that, in releasing what weighs us down, we can find our way back to balance and creativity.
Poetry Corner
The falling leaf is a whisper from the tree,
āChange is beautiful, trust the breeze.
Letting go of our worries can feel impossible, but it's the key to finding freedom. Each worry we release lifts us higher, making us lighter and more free. When we hold on to our fears, they keep us grounded, weighed down by the heaviness of our own minds. But when we begin to let go, one by one, we start to rise above the chaos. Itās not easy, and it doesnāt happen all at once, but with each release, we find ourselves soaring higher, feeling lighter, and finally free from the burdens that once held us back. Trust in the power of letting goāitās where true freedom begins.
Creative Challenge
This week, I want us to dive into a powerful exercise thatās all about letting go. Itās called the Balloon Drawing, and itās a tool often used in art therapy to help us visualize and release the worries that weigh us down.
Draw Your Balloons: On a blank sheet of paper, draw a series of balloons. Each balloon will represent something youāre holding ontoāa worry, a fear, or an anxiety. Inside each balloon, write down or draw a symbol of what that balloon holds for you.
Pause and Reflect: Take a moment to look at your balloons. What are you holding onto? How are these worries affecting your life? Just acknowledging them is a step toward release.
Release the Balloons: Now, imagine letting each balloon go. You can draw them floating away into the sky, or simply close your eyes and visualize them drifting away. As you let go of each one, focus on how it feels to release that weight.
Reflect on the Release: After youāve let go of your balloons, take a few moments to reflect. How do you feel now? Lighter? More at peace? Let these feelings settle in and stay with you.
This isnāt just a drawingāitās a way to physically and emotionally let go of whatās been holding you down. By seeing your worries as something you can release, youāre giving yourself permission to move forward without them. Itās about finding freedom and lightness in letting go.
Remember, this is about the process, not the product. Itās okay if itās messy or imperfect. What matters is that youāre taking a step toward freeing yourself from what no longer serves you.
If you feel like sharing, Iād love to see what you create. Reply to this email and attach your drawing. Letās all support each other in this journey of letting go. šā„ļø
Life Snippets
This week has been all about savouring the simple moments. I finally took the plunge and bought my own guitar! I've always wanted to learn, especially since my son and husband are both guitar players. One of our favourite family activities is listening to music and watching music videos together. My boys often jam out as a duo, and Iād be lying if I said I didnāt feel a bit left out. But not anymore! With my own guitar, Iām officially in the bandāwatch out world, here we come! (Or at least, watch out, neighbours! š¤£) Iāve also been spending a lot of time on the deck, soaking up slow mornings with a warm cup of tea and for an extra dash of happinessā¦some chocolate. Thereās just something about that combo that feels like a big cozy hug. And lastly, Iāve been in full-on nesting mode, rearranging and redecorating my office. The old setup wasnāt quite doing it for meāIāve always been someone who craves change. Iām excited to see how this new setup will inspire my creativity.
